The kinds of plastic are really manifold. In general, polyethylene, polypropylene, polyethylene tetrap terephthalate, and polyvinyl chloride celluloid are typical examples and there are tens of other kinds of plastic apart from these. Plastic undergoes a chemical reaction called polymerization when it’s made. This process links molecules of a certain type in a line and yields a longer and heavier molecule. It is at this point that the properties of a polymer produced come out to be different depending on what substances were used in the process.
Because of this, plastics are classified according to their usage. That is why it is advantageous in a sense that it undergoes a deformation. On the other hand, thermosetting resin does not undergo a deformation even if heat is applied, and it is because polymers form net-like connections between themselves in thermosetting resin unlike thermoplastic resin. Thus thermosetting resin is less subject to deformation by heat since the polymers cannot be parted apart.
